2018 - Getting a grip!
At the very start of January 2018 and suffering from what I now know was the start of a severe case of viral laryngitis I visited the wonderful Maggie Robinson from DinkyFeet.
It may be difficult to imagine as I run a photography business and a large facebook group for female photographers but in real life I am quite shy and find it difficult to meet new people.
Maggie made me feel at ease straight away and after a bit of chat and a cuppa and cake we started playing in her studio. I had taken my girls to her studio and she took some seriously amazing pictures of them and a wonderful one of me and the kids! I cried when I saw it on the back of the camera!
Anyway I digress, Maggie taught me some new ways of lighting and I hope I showed her that photographing old children can be enjoyable too! She got some incredible images!
Later in the day my girls went out with their Dad and we met our next model - Amie. She was pregnant and had been suffering terribly with hyperemesis gravidarum (severe vomiting in pregnancy). Amie was INCREDIBLE. She was so comfortable in her own skin and looked fierce!
In all, I learned so much from Maggie. More than she ever thought she taught me. I learned that I too can be beautiful. I learned that I am worth people giving their time to. I learned I am worth charging my prices and to get a grip and charge it and I learned that it is OK to be me. I left her studio feeling excited and uplifted. So Maggie - thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
